‘Company in your name, turnover of 250 crores…’ GST team reached the house of an unemployed youth, fraud came to light

A very shocking incident has come to light in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Here GST department employees reached a young man’s house and knocked on the door. When the young man came out, he was told that a company is running in his name. GST e-way billing transactions worth about 250 crores have taken place in that company. The young man was shocked to hear this.

Actually, a few days ago, an unemployed youth Ashwani Kumar from Barsu village of Ratanpuri police station area received a call on WhatsApp. He was promised a job on the call. In the greed of getting a job, Ashwani sent the documents demanded by them on WhatsApp.

Ashwini says that he had sent Rs 1750 along with the documents, but he did not get the job. Now, by opening a fake company and bank account in the name of Ashwini, an e-way billing fraud of about Rs 250 crore GST has been committed. Officials say that further action is being taken in this case in collaboration with the GST department.

SP Rural Aditya Bansal said that this amount has not come into anyone’s account. Ratanpuri resident Ashwani Kumar’s documents were taken by luring him with the promise of getting him a job and on the basis of those documents a fake company and fake bank account were opened, through which GST e-way billing fraud was done. Through this, fake e-way billing of about 250 crore rupees has been prepared. In this, talks are going on with the GST department. Further legal action will be taken in collaboration with them.

What did the victim say?

The victim Ashwani Kumar said that I received a call on WhatsApp for a job. I was asked for documents, including my home’s electricity bill and father’s Aadhaar card and Rs 1750 were taken from me. I do not know if any company is running in my name. A team from the GST department has come. They told me that a firm is running in my name. The GST department has called us and asked for action. A complaint has been lodged at the police station.
