‘Come to the theatre and show your worth…’, filmmaker David Dhawan challenges OTT actors

Filmmaker David Dhawan has many hit Bollywood films to his credit. By adding a tadka of romance to comedy, he has taken films to new heights. But now David has become very choosy, he makes only selective films. Now is the era of OTT, but David is not impressed by it at all. He considers OTT as just another medium, for him the first love is still theatre. That is why he is seen challenging OTT actors. David has said that the real status is seen only in theatre.

Filmmaker David Dhawan even challenged OTT actors in a recent interview. He truly believes that the magic of watching a movie in a theater has not ended. According to David, OTT is a secure platform for filmmakers, which allows them to avoid the pressure of media testing and box office results, but it does not stand anywhere in comparison to the theater experience.

He proved his point by saying that when there is thunderous applause during an important scene, nothing is better than the reaction of the live audience. You cannot get such a reaction on OTT.

The energy of the theater is different

He stressed that he is a theatre enthusiast at heart and no platform can replicate the very different energy that one gets during a theatre release. David Dhawan’s last release, the remake of Govinda’s Coolie No. 1, was streamed on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video due to the Corona epidemic. The film starred Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan.

Meanwhile, there is a buzz that David Dhawan is going to do a romantic comedy film with son Varun Dhawan. According to the latest update, the name of the film has been finalised as Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. It is all set to release in October 2025. However, no official announcement has been made yet.
