‘Coaching centers have become death chambers, they are playing with the lives of children’, Supreme Court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the federation

In view of the dangers present in coaching centres and the frequent accidents, the Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance and given a major order to make guidelines for safety. The court has called the coaching centres of Delhi as death chambers. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the petitioner Coaching Centre Federation.

After the death of UPSC students in a coaching centre in Rajinder Nagar, Delhi, the Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the safety of coaching centres in Delhi and issued notice to the Government of India and the Delhi Government. During the hearing, the Supreme Court said that coaching centres are playing with the lives of children. Coaching centres have become death chambers.

The court asked these questions
The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Central Government and the Chief Secretary of Delhi and asked whether safety rules have been implemented in coaching centers? The Supreme Court has asked the Attorney General to assist the court in this matter. The court said that we think that if coaching centers do not fulfill the safety norms, then they should be made online. But at present we are not doing this.

The Supreme Court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the president, secretary and treasurer of the Coaching Center Federation for challenging the Delhi High Court order. After the Mukherjee Nagar coaching incident, the Delhi High Court had ordered the closure of coaching centers that do not have fire NOC. The Coaching Federation of India had challenged the High Court order in the Supreme Court.

Many students claimed that building a PG in the basement is not allowed, but all this is going on here. During the rainy season, the PG gets flooded. A local woman here said that she has complained to the MCD about the drainage problem, but no one comes to clean the drain.
