Under the Yogi government’s zero tolerance policy towards corruption, rapid action is being taken in many districts of UP including Ballia, Sitapur, Barabanki, Varanasi. Yesterday, in Ballia, the entire police station including SP, ASP, CO and sub-inspector were caught on the charge of running a racket of extortion from trucks, while in Sitapur, the SP took strong action in the case of corruption and put two dozen policemen including SHO of Kamalapur police station on line duty.

Apart from this, Chowki Incharge Suryaprakash Pandey, who was caught in the robbery case in Varanasi, was arrested and sent to jail. Along with the Chowki Incharge, his two companions were also arrested. On the other hand, on the orders of Barabanki DM, SDM/Joint Magistrate of Sadar Tehsil raided the District Hospital, Registry Office and ARTO Office along with ASP Akhilesh Singh and police force. The sudden raid created panic among the brokers. 15 brokers were arrested during the raid.

Orders have also been given to investigate the property of police officers.

Robber inspector of Varanasi sent to jail

Recently, Sub-Inspector Suryaprakash Pandey was found involved in the robbery of lakhs of rupees in Varanasi. He was posted as in-charge at Nadesar outpost under Cantt police station of Varanasi. On 22 June 2024, he along with his companions stopped a bus near Bhiti in Ramnagar area and robbed the businessman’s workers by showing a pistol, claiming to be from the crime branch.

Now the police has arrested Vikas Mishra, Ajay Gupta and Sub Inspector Suryaprakash Pandey involved in this robbery. After presenting him in the court, he has been sent to jail. This action created a stir in the department.

Raids were also conducted in Sant Kabir Nagar

In Sant Kabir Nagar, the district administration has taken action against the brokers active in government departments. A joint team of administration and police raided government offices, detained the suspects, interrogated them and arrested 20 brokers. This sudden raid in the departments under the leadership of ADM Jaiprakash and ASP Shashi Shekhar Singh and CO Sadar Ajit Chauhan created a stir.

For a long time, complaints were being received about brokers and outsiders working in the office. During the raid, the brokers sitting outside the ARTO office closed their shops and fled.

The DM reprimanded the ARTO and RTO for the continuous complaints. He gave strict orders to remove the corruption and disorder prevailing in the office as soon as possible. During this raid, more than two dozen motorcycles and a dozen suspects were taken into custody. At the same time, the police seized 14 vehicles out of more than two dozen vehicles picked up from outside the ARTO office for not having papers.

Two brokers who were trying to send patients to private hospitals in the district hospital were also arrested. However, after the sudden raid, the brokers closed their shops and started running away.
