CM Kejriwal is deliberately eating less food- Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena

arvind kejriwal health update, Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has alleged that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, lodged in Tihar jail under judicial custody, is possibly deliberately not taking the therapeutic supplements and medicines being given to him. In a letter to Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, the Lt Governor, citing the jail superintendent’s report on Kejriwal’s health condition, alleged that there were several instances of the Chief Minister deliberately consuming less calories even though he was being provided with adequate home-cooked food. There was no immediate response from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on the issue.

Kejriwal is suffering from type-2 diabetes

The Lt Governor’s office said Saxena has suggested to jail authorities that they may advise the chief minister to take prescribed diet, besides medication and fixed dose of insulin as Kejriwal is suffering from type-2 diabetes. The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its led central government of conspiring to cause permanent damage to the health of jailed Kejriwal and claimed that the AAP chief has lost weight and his blood sugar level has dropped. The party also claimed that Kejriwal may go into coma and suffer brain damage as his blood sugar level had dropped to 50 mg/dL five times in one night.

According to the letter written by the Lieutenant Governor to the Chief Secretary, the diet monitoring chart shows that between June 6 and July 13, the Chief Minister did not consume the full prescribed dose of diet three times a day. The letter said that the report also indicates weight loss (weight on the date of surrender June 2, 2024 was 63.5 kg but now it is 61.5 kg). Prima facie, the reason for this appears to be low calorie intake. It said that it appears that on June 18, he was not given insulin or the jail authorities did not mention it in the report.

There is also a huge difference between the glucometer test reading and the continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS) reading on most days, the LG’s office said. Kejriwal’s glucometer reading before lunch was 104 mgL, while the CGMS reading before lunch at 12.30 pm on June 19 was 82 mgL, it said. The marked difference between the glucometer test reading and the CGMS reading needs to be verified by competent medical authorities, it said.

CM Kejriwal is not taking the prescribed dose

According to the Lieutenant Governor’s office, the Chief Minister did not take the three scheduled meals on July 6 and was given five units of insulin before breakfast, four units before lunch and two units before dinner. Citing the jail report, it was said that on July 7 again the scheduled dose was not taken and on that day five units of insulin were given before breakfast and four units before lunch and the Chief Minister refused to take insulin before dinner.
