CJI’s 5-judge bench will hear the case of Punjab-Haryana High Court judge who questioned the decision of the Supreme Court today, know the whole matter

A very important case is to be heard in the Supreme Court today. This case is related to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Actually, the Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, in which the High Court has criticized the Supreme Court. The Constitution Bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice BR Gavai, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Hrishikesh Roy will hear this today (7 August).

Let us tell you that Justice Rajbir Sahrawat of Punjab Haryana High Court had criticized the Supreme Court in his unexpected order given on July 17. The Supreme Court had stayed the contempt proceedings initiated by the High Court in this case.

Justice Sahrawat had said in his order that the High Court is not a subordinate court of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court should exercise caution while interfering in the contempt proceedings going on in the High Court. The bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court made this comment on the Supreme Court order passed on July 17. He said that the High Court is constitutionally considered less ‘high’.
