In a remarkable feat of aerial photography, a Chinese-manufactured drone has captured mesmerizing footage of Mount Everest from above. The drone, ascending to an altitude of 3500 meters above base camp, reached the summit of the world’s highest peak, offering an unprecedented view of the majestic mountain.
The footage, captured by a Mavic 3 Pro drone and shared by DJI, a company based in Shenzhen, on a Chinese social media platform, begins at an elevation of around 17,600 feet near Base Camp on the mountain’s south side in Nepal. The drone gracefully follows the contours of the terrain, providing a panoramic view of Camp I above the perilous Khumbu Icefall.
Further along, Camp II in Western Cwm, a broad glacial valley about 20,000 feet high, is depicted with its snow-covered tents. The high-definition 4K resolution footage showcases mountaineers ascending in a single line, passing by the third and final camps on their way to the summit, the pinnacle of the world.

Mount Everest, standing at around 29,035 feet, holds a significant place in the history of mountaineering, having been first conquered in 1953 by New Zealand’s Edmund Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. Each year, around 800 individuals attempt to reach the summit, comprising both foreign climbers and the Sherpas they enlist as guides and porters.
The incredible aerial footage captured by the Chinese drone offers a unique perspective of the challenges and beauty of climbing Mount Everest. As drones become more prevalent on the mountain, they have the potential to assist Sherpas in transporting equipment and address the environmental impact of the mountain’s popularity.
