China’s army People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has introduced its new air defense system. This is HQ-9B. It is operated by China’s Central Theater Command. Earlier, four missiles were fired from the launcher of this air defense system, now eight can be launched. So that every kind of attack can be destroyed in one go.
According to a report in China’s Global Times, the size of the missiles in this new system has been reduced compared to the previous one. But these are long-range missiles. They are capable of striking from surface to air. This air defense of China is considered one of the most advanced surface-to-air missile systems in the world.

Fourth variant of its series, range increased to 250 km
HQ-9B is the fourth variant in its series. Before this there have been HQ-9, HHQ-9 and HQ-9A versions. HHQ-9 is the naval version of the Chinese army. While HQ-9A has been included in the Chinese army since 2001. The new HQ-9B is the latest. Its range has been increased to 250 kilometers. That means it will destroy enemy missiles, planes or drones in the air itself.
Attack towards the target at a speed of 5000 km/hr
This missile can reach a maximum height of 50 kilometers at a time. Its maximum speed is more than Mach four. That is, a speed of about 5000 km/hr. It has Semi-Active Radar Homing (SARH) technology. This is how it guides the target. Currently, apart from China, it is also present with Pakistan.

Can track 100 targets simultaneously
To launch this two-stage missile, an 8×8 Taian TAS-5380 truck is used. Its launcher is built on top of this truck. This system can track 100 targets coming in the air at a time. It can destroy 50 targets simultaneously.
