China challenges Elon Musk… Launched 18 satellites like Starlink at once, plans to launch 108 satellites this year

China has done its 35th launch this year. These are Qianfan Polar Orbit 01 internet satellites. It was launched with the Long March 6 rocket. These satellites compete with Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites. China will install these new internet provider satellites in the lower orbit of the Earth i.e. LEO.

The launch was done from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. This center is in Shanxi province of China. China’s government company Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology worked in this launch. Thousand Sails Constellation is a project of this company. Its purpose is to provide internet like Starlink all over the world.

SpaceX currently has 6200 satellites in LEO. Starlink satellites are orbiting at a height of 550 kilometers above the earth’s surface. Many countries, governments, people and businesses are taking internet facility through these small satellites. The special thing is that they are getting broadband internet. Now the use of this technology is becoming famous.

Internet was expensive through satellites with old technology

In the old technology of providing internet, a geostationary satellite was used. Which was about 65 times more distant than LEO. This is called high earth orbit. It took a lot of time for the data to reach and receive on earth. This made the internet speed slow. Also, the cost was high.

Spying on any country is possible through Starlink satellite

For the last two decades, China has been very concerned about its national security. Because it fears that America and Elon Musk can spy through Starlink satellites. Therefore, China had asked its army to build a similar internet satellite constellation. China knows that America can track the launch of hypersonic missiles through Starlink satellites. It can also communicate with drones and stealth fighters. Not only this, it can destroy Chinese satellites through these satellites. You can see how Ukraine is shooting down Russian drones with the help of these satellites.

China will launch 108 satellites this year and 15 thousand satellites by 2030

Therefore, China wants to protect itself from Starlink satellites through the Thousand Sails Project. Therefore, China has recently decided to install lasers in its submarines. So that it can shoot down Starlink satellites from inside the sea itself. This year China will launch 108 such satellites. By 2030, it will put more than 15 thousand satellites in orbit.
