Why is 15 August a national mourning day in Bangladesh?

In Bangladesh, 15th August is celebrated as National Mourning Day every year. The reason for this is that on this day in 1975, Sheikh Hasina’s father Sheikh Mujiburahman was assassinated along with his family. He was the founder of Bangladesh. On 15th August 1975, army officers surrounded his house from all sides and shot him dead. Since then, National Mourning Day is celebrated on 15th August in Bangladesh.
