CBI investigation, termination of Principal, MS and Security Incharge… Striking doctors put forward 6 demands on Kolkata rape-murder

Resident doctors are on strike from Delhi to Lucknow on Monday in protest against the murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. As the matter escalated, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also met the victim’s family. Meanwhile, the Resident Doctors Association of Delhi AIIMS has put forth six demands.

Resident Doctors Association of Delhi AIIMS has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. Along with this, it has also demanded the immediate termination of Principal, MS and Security Incharge of RG Kar Medical College Hospital.

In the six-point demands of the association, a written assurance has also been sought from the Central Government that the Central Protection Act for doctors will be implemented. Along with this, a demand has also been made to name a building or library in the hospital after the victim doctor and give him the status of a martyr. Along with giving proper compensation to the victim’s family, strict action has also been demanded against police harassment.

What did Mamata Banerjee say?

There is anger across the country after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. Meanwhile, after meeting the victim’s family, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has given a statement on the demand for a CBI inquiry into the case. She said that if the police does not make any disclosure in this case by Sunday, then this case will be handed over to the CBI. In this way, CM Banerjee has given the police time till Sunday to investigate the case.

On this matter, Kolkata’s DCP North Abhishek Gupta said that from now on, the names of the people coming to the hospital will be entered in the register. Doctors have demanded to increase security around the hospital. The guards will be given identity cards which they will have to wear at all times during duty. This is the first step towards increasing security.

What is the matter?

On the morning of 9th August, a sensation spread when the body of a trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The accused first killed the female doctor and then raped her. The doctor was sleeping alone in the seminar hall of the hospital. She resisted, but was strangled to death.

The post-mortem report said that the victim was bleeding from both eyes and mouth. There were injuries on her face. There was bleeding from her private parts as well. There were injuries on her stomach, left leg, neck, right hand, finger and lips. Police reached the spot as soon as they received information about the incident on Saturday morning.

During the initial investigation, the police found a Bluetooth earbud from the crime scene, through which they were able to reach the accused. Actually, the police tried to connect that Bluetooth to the phones of many people, but that Bluetooth connected only to the accused’s phone. After this, the accused Sanjay Roy was arrested. The accused is a civic volunteer.
