A 24-year-old Catholic school teacher, Alanis Pinion, has been arrested and charged with sending sexually explicit photos to a 14-year-old former student in Delaware. Pinion, who taught 8th grade at St. Mary Magdalen School in Wilmington, frequently interacted with students via Snapchat and shared inappropriate content with one particular student.

The New Castle County Police discovered the misconduct and promptly notified the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, which oversees the school and fully cooperated with the investigation. Pinion has been charged with sexual solicitation of a minor under 18, endangering the welfare of a child, and indecent exposure in the first degree.

Following her arrest, Pinion was unable to meet the $46,000 cash bail and was housed at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution. The school has stated that Pinion was a part-time employee who successfully completed a background check prior to being hired.

This incident highlights the importance of stringent safeguards and vigilance in protecting students from predatory behavior by those entrusted with their education and well-being. The Catholic Diocese of Wilmington and the New Castle County Police have demonstrated a commitment to swiftly addressing such allegations and ensuring the safety of the community.
