The Congress Party decided to bring a privilege motion on this issue, due to which the atmosphere of the Parliament became heated.

From the morning of July 31, Congress MPs protested in the House, objecting to Anurag Thakur’s statement. Congress called Thakur’s statement insulting and unconstitutional and demanded immediate action on it. Senior Congress leaders took the issue seriously and urged the Speaker to take appropriate action.

Apart from this, the former Chief Minister of Punjab also brought a privilege motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha. Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi accused the Prime Minister of hurting the dignity of Parliament and claimed violation of the rules of the House. Channi wrote in the privilege motion that yesterday Anurag Thakur’s statement was removed from the Parliament’s provision but the Prime Minister has violated the rules of Parliament by uploading the entire video on X, even after this there was a lot of uproar in the House and the opposition parties made sharp attacks on the government.

The proceedings of the Parliament had to be adjourned repeatedly and important bills could not be discussed due to the uproar. Congress made it clear that until Anurag Thakur apologizes for his statement and appropriate action is taken on the privilege motion brought against the Prime Minister, they will continue their protest.
