Case filed against ex-husband of American woman found chained in Maharashtra forest, was living in India for 10 years

A case of attempted murder has been registered against the ex-husband of an American woman who was found chained to a tree in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district on Monday. Police officials said that the case has been registered on the basis of the woman’s statement recorded in the hospital. According to the police officer, in her statement, the woman claimed that her ex-husband had chained her in the forest of Sonurali in Sindhudurg. The woman was identified as Lalita Kai Kumar S, who was from America and lived in Tamil Nadu.

The shepherd had informed the police after hearing the crying sound

Let us tell you that on July 27, a shepherd saw the woman tied to a tree, after which he informed the police about the matter. The woman was admitted to a nearby hospital before being transferred to a hospital in Goa. According to the police, the woman was hungry for many days and there has been a lot of rain in the area. She was not in a position to speak right now.

The woman was living in India for 10 years

Police found a photocopy of Aadhaar card and US passport from the woman. Police said that the woman’s visa had expired and she was in India for the last 10 years. According to a PTI report, several medical documents have also been found from the woman, which show that the woman also has a mental illness.

Police said that based on the note written by the woman in the hospital, a case has been registered against her ex-husband under several sections including attempt to murder. Police said that an investigation has been started and a search is on for her husband. Officials said that a police team has left for Tamil Nadu in search of the woman’s relatives.
