Car number 92.97, Rs 10 crore… What gifts did CM Maryam Nawaz give to gold medalist Arshad Nadeem?

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem has been in the news ever since he won the gold medal in javelin throw at the Paris Olympics. He created history by not only winning the first individual Olympic gold medal for Pakistan in 40 years, but also setting an Olympic record with his spectacular throw of 92.97 meters. Since then, there has been a stream of people congratulating him at his home and he has been receiving various gifts. In this episode, Pakistan’s Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also reached Arshad Nadeem’s hometown Mian Channu on Tuesday to meet him. During this, she gave a cheque of Rs 10 crore to Olympic gold medalist Arshad.

CM Maryam reached Mian Channu by helicopter and met Arshad at his home, where she was welcomed by the javelin throw star and his family. The Chief Minister congratulated Arshad and his mother Razia Parveen and also had a long conversation with them. According to the press release, Maryam handed over a cheque of Rs 10 crore to Arshad to commemorate the athlete’s winning throw, which she had already announced. She also handed over a Honda Civic car, which has been specially registered and the number of this car is – PAK-92.97. This number has been registered matching Arshad’s record-making throw.

The coach was also given a cheque of Rs 50 lakh

Apart from this, the Chief Minister handed over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to Arshad’s coach Salman Iqbal Butt and praised him for the training given to Arshad. In the press release, Maryam was quoted as saying, “Arshad Nadeem has given unprecedented happiness to the country.”

Maryam shared photos of the meeting on X and said in the post, “Parents’ prayers take a person to great heights!” “Well done Arshad Nadeem,” the chief minister said in another post, sharing photos of herself pinning the medal on Arshad.

Arshad got an invitation for dinner at PM’s residence

Moreover, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that he will host a dinner for Arshad and his family at the Prime Minister House tonight. Speaking during the federal cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz again praised Arshad, and highlighted that he overcame many challenges through his unwavering effort. The prime minister also praised the javelin thrower’s parents and coach for their support for the gold medalist.

Giving details of the arrangements, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said a special Pakistan Air Force plane would bring Arshad, his family and his coach from the Multan airport, Radio Pakistan reported. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar said a committee of federal ministers would welcome national hero Arshad at the Noor Khan airbase this evening and he would be accorded state protocol during his visit.

Arshad will hoist the flag with PM on Independence Day

Radio Pakistan quoted Tarar as saying that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been directed to make a biopic on the struggle and life of the Olympic athlete. Tarar said that Arshad and Prime Minister Shahbaz will jointly hoist the national flag at a ceremony organised in Islamabad on the occasion of Independence Day tomorrow. According to APP, the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has announced an Umrah package for Arshad and his family. According to the report, Arshad will go for Umrah with his wife, children and parents after the conclusion of the ceremony.
