Can’t you photocopy the dollar and the pound? There is a secret pattern in their notes

Imagine what would happen if we could print currency notes or take their photocopies? It comes to mind that if this happens, there will be a lot of money. But this does not happen and neither is it that easy. An economic graduate and YouTuber Arun Maini explained what would happen if we try to photocopy currency notes and print them (any such attempt can land you in trouble). Arun has gone viral due to his video related to this.

He said any attempt to photocopy either the dollar or the British pound was met with the reply “the original cannot be copied”. However, when he inserted a photocopy of a £10 Monopoly note into the machine, it worked easily.

Arun, 27, said, ‘There is actually a very special pattern hidden on the pound note which is known as the Orion constellation because of its similarity to the Orion constellation.’ He further added, ‘The fine detail in the design of the note is something you might not notice at first glance but this is the pattern that the scanner of every photocopy machine is specifically designed to recognise to prevent you from copying the money.’

He further said, ‘This is not just a GBP design, and you can find a similar pattern on Euro notes and the US dollar as well.’ He added, ‘Talking about the Japanese Yen, there are actually patterns hidden within the flowers on the note.’

Thousands of people commented on Arun’s post in the comment section. Most people were completely unaware of this hidden feature of currency notes. One user wrote – So much security in notes, it’s absolutely crazy. Another wrote – I enjoyed knowing this amazing fact.

Let us tell you that according to the Bank of England, ‘It is a crime to reproduce notes issued by the bank in any material or on any scale without the consent of the bank. It is also a crime to make a counterfeit note with the intention of illegally making or presenting it as genuine.’
