UGC took this step

Recently, UGC has expressed concern over the seats going vacant in colleges. UGC has announced that if seats in undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses remain vacant through CUET scores, then central universities can conduct their own entrance examinations or give admission to students on the basis of marks in qualifying exams.

According to the SOP of UGC, universities can conduct the entrance examination at their own level or the screening test can be conducted by the university’s concerned. Apart from this, universities can also admit students on the basis of qualifying exam marks. By following these two methods, the institute can fill the vacant seats in its college. However, students should note that in the SOPs issued by UGC, it has been said that CUET marks will be the main basis for UG/PG admission in all central universities and affiliated/constituent colleges.
