Call center in Gurugram and fraud with foreign citizens… Part of the fraud used to go to Hong Kong, agencies of many countries are investigating

The CBI had arrested 43 cyber fraud accused from Gurugram under Operation Chakra Part 2. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court will hear the case today on Saturday. Yesterday, the Rouse Avenue Court sent all the accused to judicial custody. The accused have challenged their arrest case in the court, which is to be heard. These accused used to cheat by targeting foreign nationals while sitting in Gurugram.

The 43 cyber fraudsters arrested by the CBI under Operation Chakra-2 are accused of operating a call center in Gurugram and duping foreign nationals from there. This is an international cyber fraud syndicate that commits online crimes. The CBI had launched Operation Chakra against this syndicate since 2022 with the aim of destroying the cyber financial crime network operating in the country.

As a sequel to this series, the CBI registered a case on 22 July 2024 and started the investigation. Agencies of many other countries like FBI and Interpol are also involved in the investigation. During the investigation, the CBI raided 7 locations in the capital Delhi and Cyber ​​City Gurugram.

During the raid, it was revealed that this cyber fraud was being done from a call center located in DLF Gurugram. The accused used to send pop-up messages on people’s computers and ask them to download suspicious software. After this, they used to transfer money in the name of restoring their system. In this case, the CBI arrested 43 cyber thugs in quick succession.

130 computer hard disks, 65 mobile phones and 5 laptops were recovered from these accused of cyber fraud. Apart from this, a large number of victims’ information, documents, call recordings and transcripts were recovered. The investigation also revealed that a part of the income from this cyber crime was also sent to Hong Kong from many countries through hawala and other means.
