Bulldozer ran on the rented house of the accused student, questions raised on the action of the administration amid tension in Udaipur

On Saturday, the authorities demolished the house where the boy accused of stabbing his classmate lived in Udaipur, Rajasthan, using a bulldozer. The Udaipur district administration demolished the house located in Khanjipeer’s Diwanshah Colony after allowing the accused’s family to remove their belongings. Later it was found that the accused was living in that house on rent with his family. Now, after this action, the Udaipur administration is under fire. People say that instead of taking action against the accused, action was taken against an innocent and his house was demolished.

The house was bulldozed amid heavy police presence and district administration. Locals had a minor clash with the police personnel. People were gathered outside the house and were saying that the accused was living here on rent, what was the fault of his landlord in this. Police personnel asked people to vacate the area outside the house, after which there was an altercation. The district administration demolished the house calling it an illegal construction. Udaipur Collector Arvind Kumar Poswal said, ‘Our priority is that the child gets proper treatment… The child’s condition is improving… I request everyone not to spread rumors. The accused has been detained to find out where he got the illegal weapons from.

The accused is a Class 10 student. He allegedly stabbed a fellow student at a government school in the district on Friday, leading to communal tension in the Madhuban area. The police have taken the student into custody as investigations are underway. A crowd of people gathered in the Madhuban area to protest the stabbing incident and set fire to at least three cars parked in a garage and pelted stones. Police in Udaipur have been put on high alert amid rising tensions between the two communities, officials said. As the situation turned tense, Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (formerly Section 144 of the CrPC) has been imposed in the city. The injured student is admitted to the ICU and is currently said to be stable.

There is a lot of anger among the people of Udaipur after the fatal knife attack on the student. Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena and some right-wing organizations had yesterday demanded the administration to run a bulldozer on the house of the accused. The Udaipur Development Authority inspected the house in which the accused lived. The UDA found that the house in Machhra Magra area was built illegally on the hill. There are other houses located here as well. Questions are being raised on the Udaipur district administration that firstly, it ran a bulldozer on the house which did not belong to the accused and secondly, if the house was an illegal construction, then why were bulldozers not run on other houses.

It is said that the dispute between the two students was going on for several days. There was also abuse between the two regarding this. However, the teachers were not aware of this. On Friday morning, the accused student arrived with a knife in his bag and attacked his classmate with whom he was having a dispute. Teachers said that both the students were good in studies. There is not much information about what the dispute was about between the two. After this incident, the angry mob came out on the streets and started vandalizing and setting vehicles on fire. Police from several police stations were called in the area to control the situation. As a precaution, the administration banned internet service for 24 hours from 10 pm on Friday night to 10 pm on Saturday night.
