There was a stir in Gorakhpur, UP when the police administration demolished the platform being built to install the statue of late Harishankar Tiwari on his birth anniversary with a bulldozer. Former minister Harishankar Tiwari was known as a strongman leader of Purvanchal. Yesterday, his supporters were going to install his statue in his ancestral village Barhalganj Tanda, but the administration stopped them. Harishankar Tiwari’s son Vinay Shankar has expressed displeasure over this. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also attacked the government. He said that till now BJP’s bulldozer used to run on shops and houses, now it has started running on the honor and respect of the deceased as well.
In fact, Harishankar Tiwari was an MLA from Chillupar assembly constituency many times, his ancestral village falls in this assembly. Here on July 31, Tiwari’s supporters were installing his statue. A platform was built for this. A large number of people had also gathered. But as soon as the administration got wind of this, a heavy police force reached the spot and stopped the installation of the statue. Officials said that the villagers were doing this work without permission, action has been taken on the construction of the platform on the land of the Gram Sabha. Whereas the villagers allege that the administration was neither giving permission nor refusing.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the force of several police stations including SDM, CO reached the village and demolished the platform under construction with the help of JCB/bulldozer. However, during this time the officials also had to face opposition from the villagers.

In this case, Vinay Shankar Tiwari, former MLA of Chillupar and son of Harishankar Tiwari, has expressed disappointment, calling it regrettable. He said on social media that the government in which his father was a minister (in Kalyan Singh’s era), today he is being insulted by the ruler of the same government (Yogi government) in the arrogance of power.

Vinay Shankar said- After his father’s death, this government gave him a guard of honour. His father has been a minister in many previous governments. The decision to install his statue in the village was taken by the villagers and not by him. But the government, intoxicated with power, demolished the platform being built to install Harishankar Tiwari’s statue. The high mast next to the platform was also demolished. No notice was given before the demolition. This is absolutely not appropriate.
At the same time, Akhilesh Yadav said that till now BJP’s bulldozer used to run on shops and houses, now it has started running on the honor and respect of the dead. Demolishing the proposed installation site of the statue of late Shri Harishankar Tiwari ji, former UP cabinet minister and seven-time MLA from Chillupar, on his birth anniversary is a highly objectionable act by the BJP government. The statue installation site should be rebuilt immediately, so that the statue can be installed with respect on the birth anniversary day, 5 August. Condemnable.
