BSF DG: The central government removed the paramilitary force ‘BSF Director General’ and ‘Deputy Special DG’ with immediate effect

The Union Home Ministry has issued a notification regarding the Border Security Force (B S f BSF Director General (DG) Nitin Agarwal and his Deputy Special DG (West) YB Khurania have been repatriated to their respective state cadres with immediate effect. According to a government order, the Center has repatriated the BSF Director General and his Deputy Special DG (West) to their respective state cadres with immediate effect.

Agrawal is a 1989 batch Kerala cadre officer, while Khurania is a 1990 batch Odisha cadre officer. Agrawal took over as Border Security Force chief in June last year. Khurania, as Special DG (West), was heading the force’s deployment on the Pakistan border.

‘They are being sent back prematurely with immediate effect’

Separate orders issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) said they were being repatriated “prematurely” with “immediate effect”. The BSF force, comprising about 2.65 lakh personnel, guards the Indian borders with Pakistan in the west and Bangladesh in the east. Sources said frequent infiltration from across the international border is one of the factors behind the Centre’s move.

Complaints about important matters including alleged lack of coordination!

Sources said complaints have been received against the BSF chief over important matters, including alleged lack of coordination. “In view of the increased action south of Pir Panjal, where the BSF holds a large part of the international border, the responsibility lies with the DG and Special DG BSF,” a senior officer said.
