In the Haryana assembly elections, Congress has fielded wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Julana seat. Vinesh and Bajrang Punia joined Congress on Friday. After her name was finalized in the first list of candidates in the evening, Vinesh has now started her election campaign.
On Sunday, she campaigned in Julana where workers and supporters welcomed her with garlands. Speaking to the media, Vinesh responded to the allegations of former BJP MP Brijbhushan Singh. She said that ‘Brijbhushan Singh is not the country’.
‘The pain of the medal subsided that very day…’
On the allegations of former BJP MP Brijbhushan Singh, Vinesh Phogat said, ‘Brijbhushan is not the country, my country stands with me. My own people are with me.’ When she was asked, there are allegations that Congress had made you sit on the protest, in response she said that BJP itself had given us permission to sit at Jantar Mantar. Vinesh said, ‘The pain of losing the medal subsided the day I returned and my own people welcomed me.’
‘If I don’t join BJP, they are calling me a traitor’
Congress leader Bajrang Punia said, ‘I am an athlete and a farmer’s son. As per the responsibility given by the party, I feel I can raise the concerns of the farmers in a better way. Brijbhushan and BJP have a problem that we have joined the Congress. If we had joined the BJP, we would have become patriots, but because we have joined the Congress, they are calling us traitors.’
He said that we are with our leader Rahul Gandhi and his struggle. He is raising the voice of all sections, be it farmers, youth or athletes.
Brij Bhushan Singh took aim
Former President of Wrestling Association of India Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh targeted Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat on Saturday. Talking to reporters at Nandini Nagar Stadium in Gonda, he said that Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat are not heroes but villains. These people are villains of Haryana and the players.
He said that what is the status of Bajrang Punia that he will talk to me? The man who used his wife. He used his wife only for the post of wrestling association, for politics and Congress.
‘Haryana’s children will bring 5 gold medals’
He said that Deepender Hooda and Bhupendra Hooda want to cash in on this. They had hijacked the entire system. The weight that Vinesh had hidden from here, the same weight became her death there. If these people had not protested, at least five medals would have come in wrestling. After these people leave, 5 medals will come in wrestling in the next Olympics. I have left the wrestling association, but still I assure that after these people leave, especially the children of Haryana will bring at least 5 gold medals in the next Olympics.
‘These people defamed the players’
He said that the entire election will be over by the time Congress gives its clarifications. Because Haryana is the crown of the country in terms of sports. They have tortured the players, defamed the players. The honor of the sisters and daughters has been ruined. The sisters and daughters have been defamed. Today, women players are not able to walk with their heads held high, the reason for which is Bajrang Punia, Vinesh, Bhupendra Hooda, Deependra Hooda and the Congress party.
