BJP’s seats in Rajya Sabha increased to 87, President-nominated MP Satnam Singh Sandhu joins BJP

The number of BJP MPs in Rajya Sabha has increased to 87. Nominated MP Satnam Singh Sandhu has joined BJP. After joining BJP, he met BJP President JP Nadda. Under the anti-defection law, nominated MPs can join any political party within six months of their nomination to Rajya Sabha. Sandhu was nominated on 30 January, so he had time till 30 July to become a member of any party. He has joined BJP and thus BJP’s strength in Rajya Sabha has increased to 87 seats.

Let us tell you that earlier the number of BJP members in Rajya Sabha had come down to 86. However, now with Satnam Singh Sandhu joining BJP, this number has increased to 87. Still, the number of party members in Rajya Sabha is still below 90, which is a matter of concern for BJP. This month, the term of four MPs nominated by the central government ended. After this, the number of BJP MPs in Rajya Sabha decreased to 86. At the same time, NDA also has a strength of 101 MPs in the upper house, which is much less than the majority. In such a situation, BJP’s focus will now be on gathering majority in Rajya Sabha.
