BJP MP from Godda, Jharkhand, Nishikant Dubey raised the issue of the declining population of tribals in Santhal Pargana in the Parliament. Dubey said that ‘Here we talk about Dalits, we talk about tribals’. ‘In the Santhal Pargana from where I come, when Jharkhand was separated from Bihar, the tribal population was 36 percent, today the tribal population is 26 percent’. ‘Infiltration from Bangladesh is continuously increasing here, Bangladeshi infiltrators are marrying tribal women’.
