Police has achieved a great success in Gopalganj, Bihar. Police has recovered an element from smugglers which is worth crores of rupees and it is a radioactive element. Police has arrested three smugglers in this case and sent the recovered element to the lab for testing. It is being told that the element recovered by the police from the smugglers is Californium which is a valuable radioactive element.
50 grams of Californium recovered
Regarding this, Gopalganj SP Swarn Prabhat said that a joint team of STF, SOG7, DIU and Kuchaykot police station arrested three smugglers while smuggling 50 grams of Californium (a valuable radioactive substance).

This element is used to produce nuclear power from nuclear reactors and to cure diseases like serious brain cancer. According to the report, the price of one gram of this element is about Rs 17 crore.
One of the arrested smugglers is a resident of Parsauni village of Kushinagar district while the other two liners are from Gopalganj district named Chandan Gupta and Chandan Ram. According to the report, the smugglers were trying to sell this element for the past several months. Acting on a secret information, the police arrested the smugglers and recovered the element.

The recovered element is a radioactive substance for which a special team of FSL was called for investigation. Apart from this, the Department of Atomic Energy has also been informed. Earlier it was informed that the element was tested at IIT Madras after which it was found that it belongs to the Nuclear Power Company of Puducherry.
However, later the police said that when they spoke to the IIT Madras professor regarding the test certificate, he said that it was fake. The police said that further investigation is needed in this case.
