Bihar News: Four youths of the same family drowned while bathing in the Gandak river in Gopalganj

Four members of a family drowned while bathing in the Gandak river in Gopalganj district of Bihar. The SDRF team is engaged in their rescue. Apart from this, police and other administrative officials have also reached the spot.

This incident is from Munja village of Baikunthpur police station area. Navlesh Kumar Singh’s mother had passed away here, after which he had gone to the Gandak river to get his head shaved for the Dashkatar ceremony. After the shaving ceremony, an 18-year-old youth Sumit Kumar, who went to take a bath, started drowning in the river. To save him, 19-year-old Nikhil Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar also drowned in the deep water.

SDRF engaged in rescue of youths

As soon as the information of this incident was received, there was an atmosphere of panic. After the information, the SDRF team has reached for rescue. Administrative officials including local MLA Premshankar Yadav have also reached the spot. So far no trace of any of the youths missing in the Gandak river has been found. SDM Dr. Pradeep Kumar said that the administration is engaged in the rescue operation. The compensation amount and help available at the government level will also be provided to the dependents.

MLA said – very sad incident

MLA Prem Shankar Rai said that this is a sad incident. Four children of the same family have drowned while bathing in the Gandak river. The SDRF team is arriving to search for the drowned people. These people had come to the river bank to bathe after getting their heads shaved on the occasion of Dashaatar.
