Big relief to Bihar cadre IAS officer Sanjeev Hans, HC cancels rape FIR

Famous Bihar cadre IAS officer Sanjeev Hans has got a big relief from Patna High Court. The court has quashed the rape FIR registered against him. He had filed a criminal writ petition in Patna High Court to quash the rape charges against him.

A victim had filed a rape case against IAS Sanjeev Hans and former RJD MLA Gulab Yadav in Rupaspur police station of Patna, the capital of Bihar. After that, the IAS officer had approached the High Court. He had got immediate relief then, the hearing on the petition was going on.

After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the bench of Justice Sandeep Kumar of Patna High Court reserved the decision by fixing the date of decision on 6 August. After this, giving a big relief to IAS officer Sanjeev Hans, the court canceled the case because the FIR was lodged late.

The ED started the investigation in this case after the then SSP of Patna Rajiv Mishra submitted a supervision report, which clearly mentioned the transaction of money on a large scale. It was clearly mentioned in this report that the victim has accused the IAS officer of gang rape.

The report sought to trace the source of the funds involved. The surveillance report also mentioned that Sanjeev Hans had purchased a resort in Chandigarh in the name of Suresh Prasad Singhla for Rs 95 crore, following which ED officials raided the offices of his construction firm.

The accused were charged with criminal sexual assault, blackmailing the victim by making her pornographic videos. Not only this, the victim was forced to undergo abortion after the sexual assault. The observation report claimed that IAS Sanjeev Hans is clearly connected to the case.

After the ED action, the Bihar government removed controversial IAS officer Sanjeev Hans from his post. The state General Administration Department had also issued a notification in this regard. RJD had accused the state government of delaying action and protecting tainted officers.
