Big action taken against medical superintendent after brutality with lady doctor, Mamta Banerjee said- the culprit should get death penalty!

The case of rape and murder of a lady doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College is now gaining importance. Junior doctors of the medical college are continuously protesting demanding justice for the victim. The strike continues in the hospital. Junior doctors say that the police have arrested only one accused, while many others may also be involved in this heinous crime.

Junior doctors claim that behind the arrest of accused Sanjay Roy, an attempt is being made to deliberately hide some big thing. Till now even the CCTV footage around the spot has not been allowed to be seen. This is the reason why after the meeting, the doctors have decided that till their demands are not met, they will stop working in the hospital. They have demanded a judicial inquiry into this matter.

After this horrific incident, the health department has ordered the removal of RG Kar Medical College Superintendent Dr. Sanjay Vashishth. He was in charge there for a long time. In his place, the hospital’s dean Bulbul Mukhopadhyay has been given the responsibility. There was a demand to remove the superintendent ever since the lady doctor’s body was found on Friday. But after 48 hours, the health department issued an order to remove him.

The accused was sent to 14 days police custody

Kolkata Police arrested one of the accused, Sanjay Roy, on Saturday. He was produced in court where he was sent to 14 days of police custody. The accused will now remain in police custody till August 23 where he will be questioned about the case. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the BNS. The police were able to reach him through a Bluetooth earbud.

Demand for death penalty for the arrested accused

After the arrest of the accused, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded death penalty. She said that if the victim’s family demands a CBI inquiry, she will support it. She has no objection to it. She said, “If they do not trust the West Bengal government, they can contact any investigating agency. We have no objection. Instructions have been given to take the case to the fast track court.”

The governor ordered immediate action

West Bengal Governor C.V. Anand Bose has asked the state government to take immediate action in this case and submit a report. He has also said that he will raise this matter before the Government of India. The body of the lady doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College in North Kolkata on Friday. The initial post-mortem report has indicated that the lady doctor was sexually abused before being brutally murdered.

Police will ensure maximum punishment to the accused

According to Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel, the accused has been charged with rape and murder based on circumstantial evidence and testimony of doctors present during the night duty. He said, “This is a heinous crime. The arrested person is involved in it based on circumstantial evidence, including statements of other doctors present during the night duty. The police will ensure that the accused gets maximum punishment.”

IMA issues ultimatum, warns of nationwide protests

The fire of protest against the case of brutality against a lady doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, West Bengal has reached Delhi. Doctors of Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital took out a candle march demanding a CBI inquiry into the case. Along with this, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has given an ultimatum of 48 hours to complete the investigation. Along with this, a warning of nationwide protest has been given.

IMA said, “We demand that the police officers take action within 48 hours and with precision, otherwise we will be forced to launch a nationwide action. A fair, transparent and sensitive investigation is needed. A two-day ultimatum is given to arrest the culprits. After this, the Indian Medical Association will hold a nationwide protest. The entire medical community of India is shocked by this brutal murder.”
