Police have arrested a head constable in Bhadohi, UP. It is alleged that he extorted about 2.5 lakh rupees from a businessman by threatening him. He took this money online through Google Pay. Currently, a case has been registered against the accused under various sections and he has been sent to jail. This incident created a stir in the department. Because, recently action was taken against dozens of policemen in Ballia due to extortion from trucks.
According to the information received, Head Constable Surendra Pratap had caught a person and threatened to send him to jail. Then he demanded bribe in exchange for releasing him. He extorted Rs 2.30 lakh from the person by threatening him. After receiving a complaint about the case, the officer ordered an investigation. In the investigation, the case was found to be true prima facie.
Constable Surendra Pratap was posted at Suriyawan police station in Bhadohi district. On April 25, he caught Girish, a resident of Mainpuri, near Varanasi railway station and threatened to send him to jail in serious cases. Then he threatened him and collected Rs 2.30 lakh on Google Pay from one of his acquaintances.
The victim Girish’s wife complained about the entire matter on IGRS. The complaint was investigated and when the matter was found to be true, a case was registered against the accused head constable Surendra Pratap under section 420 and other sections and he was arrested. It is being told that departmental action will also be taken against the constable.

If sources are to be believed, the accused head constable (Sipahi) along with some of his colleagues kidnapped the victim Girish. He introduced himself as an SOG officer. Then he threatened to implicate Girish in a false case. He charged a huge amount in exchange for releasing him. Initially, the local police officers tried to suppress the case, but when the victim complained on the Chief Minister’s portal, an investigation was conducted.
