Amritpal Singh

Amritpal Singh, Amritpal Singh, the head of the Waris Punjab De organisation and a Khalistan supporter, has distanced himself from his mother’s statement. He has said through a post on social media that dreaming of a Khalsa state is not a crime but a matter of pride. He said that my mother’s statement has deeply saddened me. If I have to choose between my sect and my family, I will choose the sect.

Let us tell you, after Amritpal Singh, who is in jail, took oath as a Lok Sabha member, his mother defended her son. She had said that speaking in favour of the youth of Punjab does not make him a Khalistani supporter. Does speaking about Punjab, protecting the youth of Punjab make him a Khalistani supporter? He contested the elections within the ambit of the Constitution and now he should not be called a Khalistani supporter.

What did Amritpal say?

Amritpal Singh said in a social media post, Today when I came to know about the statement given by Mataji yesterday, my heart was deeply saddened. One should not get support from her. Dreaming of a Khalsa state is not a crime, it is a matter of pride. We cannot even dream of retreating from the path for which millions of Sikhs have sacrificed their lives. I have said many times while speaking from the stage that if I have to choose between Panth and family, I will always choose Panth.

Amritpal should be released

On the other hand, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Harjinder Singh Dhami has advocated the release of jailed activist and newly elected Lok Sabha member Amritpal Singh of Waris Punjab Dey. It has said that considering the support people have given to Amritpal, he should be released. Pro-Khalistan Amritpal won as an independent from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat while being lodged in a jail in Assam’s Dibrugarh district under the National Security Act (NSA). He took oath as MP on Friday.
