Bet on leaders’ sons, ministers’ tickets will also be cut… CEC meeting for Haryana elections today, what is BJP’s ‘master plan’?

The Central Election Committee (CEC) of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is to meet today. In the last meeting of BJP CEC, the names of candidates for Jammu and Kashmir elections were finalized. Now it is Haryana’s turn. The process of nomination of candidates for Haryana assembly elections is starting from 5th September and in this meeting the names of candidates for Haryana elections will be discussed. It is believed that BJP Central Election Committee will approve the names of candidates for most of the 90 assembly seats of Haryana.

According to sources, this time BJP is preparing to contest the Haryana elections with a different strategy. This will also be reflected in the list of candidates. The party’s focus is on the mobilization of non-Jat castes and this will also be taken care of in ticket distribution. This time the party will also take full care of caste equations while finalizing the tickets. Congress is trying to woo the OBC vote bank through demands like caste census. After making Nayab Saini, who comes from the OBC category, the CM just before the Lok Sabha elections in Haryana, now the dominance of OBCs can be seen in the ticket distribution of BJP as well.

These leaders’ sons and daughters may get tickets

BJP has been vocal against nepotism in politics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also mentioned nepotism in his address from the ramparts of the Red Fort and said that we want one lakh such youth to come into politics whose family or relatives have never been in politics. In Haryana too, nepotism has been the strong base of BJP’s politics.

BJP has been attacking Congress over Hooda family and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) over Chautala family. BJP, which has been avoiding giving ticket to any leader’s son or daughter in Haryana elections, will distribute tickets on three parameters – probability of victory, popularity and caste equation. This time Kuldeep Bishnoi’s son and current MLA from Adampur Bhavya Bishnoi, Kiran Chaudhary’s daughter Shruti Chaudhary and Union Minister Rao Inderjit’s daughter Aarti may get tickets.

Faces that lost in the Lok Sabha elections are not averse to getting tickets

In the Lok Sabha elections, BJP had lost five out of 10 seats. Generally, a party does not bet on the faces that it lost in one election in the next election, but this time BJP, which is ready to face the tough pitch of Haryana elections, can also bet on the faces that it lost in the Lok Sabha elections. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s stalwarts like Ashok Tanwar and Arvind Sharma also had to face defeat.

Focus on landing players

Alleging sexual harassment of women wrestlers, wrestlers led by Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia had demonstrated at Jantar Mantar in the national capital Delhi. The wrestlers had opened a front against the then WFI president Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. Brijbhushan was also a BJP MP. The party had given ticket to his son instead of Brijbhushan in the Lok Sabha elections. Now there is talk that the party may field many players in the election to minimize the chances of loss in Haryana due to the wrestlers’ movement.

Tickets of ministers can also be cancelled

BJP has been in power in Haryana for the last 10 years. In an effort to neutralise the anti-incumbency factor against the current government, BJP changed the face of the government before the announcement of the election schedule. Now the party can cut the tickets of many MLAs. If BJP sources are to be believed, there are preparations to cut the tickets of about 30 percent of the MLAs. There is talk that the party can also cut the tickets of many current ministers. The prominent name among them is that of former captain of the Indian hockey team Sandeep Singh. Sandeep was accused of sexual harassment.

Focus on mobilization of non-Jat castes

BJP’s focus is on mobilizing non-Jat castes. This is being done to counter the possible unity of Jat voters in favor of Congress. BJP has intensified its efforts to mobilize Punjabi-Gujjar-OBC and Yadavs as part of its strategy to unite 36 communities against Jats. BJP is also focusing on Dalit voters. The party is trying to mobilize Dalit voters through Dalit Swabhiman Samman Sammelans. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, BJP was defeated on both the reserved seats.
