Bengal police is very ‘poor’, but just look at its deeds

After the rape and murder case of the doctor in Kolkata, Mamata government of West Bengal is on the back foot. On Tuesday, the government did the same thing in Kolkata to stop the Nabanna Abhiyan protest that the Delhi Police did on the Haryana and Punjab border to stop the farmer agitators. Bengal Police also used water cannons and tear gas to suppress the unarmed agitators. The agitators did not bring armored tractors with them nor were they waving swords like the Nihang Sikhs. Still, Kolkata Police used force.

But the surprising thing was that many famous people of the country were working on a different agenda today. They did not have two words to say on what happened with Doctor Bitiya, since yesterday the same people are writing long emotional captions with the photos of some injured policemen on social media. No one can deny that tears should be shed for the injured constables of Kolkata Police, but the way the police treated Doctor Bitiya should also have been condemned. Which these people did not do. During the farmers’ movement, these same people used to write that are the protesters anti-national? Protesters do not weaken the country’s democracy but strengthen it. The protesters have faith in the Indian law and justice system, that is why they are on the streets. But they are not giving such arguments about the protesters of Bengal. It is important to tell those who are getting emotional for the Kolkata Police today that the cover-up of the Kolkata Police in the doctor rape and murder case has been reprimanded by the High Court and the Supreme Court.

1-The rapist has a police motorcycle!

On Tuesday, a new information came to light in the case of rape and murder in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Everyone is shocked to know this. The bike used by the main accused Sanjay Roy, accused of raping and murdering Doctor Bitiya, is registered in the name of the Kolkata Police Commissioner. According to the report of India Today journalist Shreya Chatterjee, this is the same bike that accused Sanjay Roy used to go to the red light areas of North and South Kolkata on the day of the crime. He drove the bike for 15 kilometers on the day of the crime. Kolkata Police clarified that all government vehicles in the state are registered in the name of the Police Commissioner.

Kolkata Police wrote on X,

‘The bike used by the main accused in the RG Kar Hospital sexual harassment and murder case was first seized by the Kolkata Police. Later it was handed over to the CBI. This bike was registered in the name of the Kolkata Police Commissioner. Some people are spreading false information about it on social media. To clarify this, let us tell you that all the official vehicles of Kolkata Police are first registered in the name of the Police Commissioner. Then they are handed over to different units.’

The police gave clarification by tweeting but did not explain how the bike reached the accused Sanjay? Is the accused a police employee? If Sanjay Roy is not a police employee then why did the police give him their bike? It is also possible that he was carrying out his illegal activities using the police bike. How can the police be helpless with such flaws?

2- Police sends notice to those who write social media posts on Kolkata rape and murder case!

Protests are continuing across the country regarding the Kolkata rape and murder case. The CBI has started the investigation. The Supreme Court has also taken suo motu cognizance of the case and made strong comments. But amidst all this, there is a ruckus on social media. Calling the news spreading on social media as false, Kolkata Police has sent notices to 280 people so far. A student was also arrested in this connection, who later got bail.

Those who were sent notices include TMC MPs, senior cardiologists, students, people associated with political parties, YouTubers and social media influencers and common people. After the notice, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy had to file an anticipatory bail petition in the Kolkata High Court. Those who were sent notices were asked to either remove their posts or appear at the police station.

On Monday, when the city’s well-known doctors Kunal Sarkar and Suvarna Goswami went to appear at the Kolkata Police headquarters, a crowd of doctors and health workers accompanied them. Both the doctors said that they were called to ask about a minor matter. Then these doctors also say that if they had to ask about a minor matter, then why was a notice sent? They could have asked these questions over the phone as well. We just want justice for that young doctor. That’s all. In fact, the Kolkata Police only wants to create panic so that people stay away from protests out of fear.

Kolkata Police has not sent notices only to people of Kolkata or West Bengal. These notices of Kolkata Police have also been sent to Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country. A BBC report shows that a student of another medical college in Kolkata has not only received a notice for her social media post, but she also received a call from the local police station at her home.

Now the question arises that can the police who take action like this be so helpless?

3- Police showers batons, water cannons and tear gas shells on unarmed protestors!

The way the West Bengal Police tried to suppress the peaceful Nabanna March on Tuesday is an example that will not be found anywhere else in the country. First, the peaceful protest is declared illegal and then an attempt is made to suppress the public by using force. There are many such photos available on social media in which the police is seen using water cannons and tear gas on a handful of people. Usually this happens when the public turns violent. About 100 students are reported to be injured in the lathi charge by the police while 20 to 25 policemen are also reported to be injured. Those who remember the farmer’s tractor movement in Delhi when they entered the Red Fort. They will also remember how many Delhi Police personnel were beaten up. In Delhi, the protesters were entering with armored tractors. The Nihang Sikhs even had weapons. Whereas in Kolkata, the protesters were empty-handed. Still the police used force on them.

Can such police be called helpless?

It was found at 4-10 pm that the girl was unconscious, PM is saying that she had died earlier

The affidavit submitted by Kolkata Police seems to indicate that the police is trying to hide a lot of things. This is the reason why people are not trusting the police. It has been claimed in the media report that the police came to know about the victim fainting at 10 in the morning. But, according to the post-mortem report, the trainee doctor had died between 3 and 4 in the morning. This affidavit of Kolkata Police is also included in the status report of CBI. Obviously, from such statements of the police, it seems from the very first day that the police is trying to hide something.

5- Why was an attempt made to wash hands off the case by calling it a suicide?

The doctor was raped and died and the police kept saying on the first day that it was suicide. The family of the dead girl was told that it was suicide. The things told by the family of the dead doctor to the team of ‘The Lallantop’ are surprising that how can Kolkata Police be so ruthless. A female neighbour of the dead girl said that I, the girl’s parents and one of our colleagues reached the hospital and we were made to stand there for three hours. The parents kept begging to show their daughter’s face once, but it was not shown. The father took a photo on his mobile phone and brought it and showed it to me. There was blood in her mouth. The glasses were broken, due to which blood came out of the eyes. There was no cloth on the body. Both the legs were at right angles. One leg was on one side of the bed and the other leg was on the other side of the bed. Unless the pelvic girdle is broken, the legs cannot be like this. She was killed by strangulation. It is normal that anyone could have said after seeing the dead body of the girl that this is not a suicide. At least Kolkata Police could have said that the case is suspicious and will be clear only after investigation. Or the truth will be known only after the postmortem report. But Kolkata Police considering it a suicide itself gives rise to suspicion that the police is hiding something from the very first day.
