Bangladesh: Dhakeshwari temple becomes a center of social harmony, people of Muslim community are also guarding it for security

This ancient temple of Bangladesh is associated with the faith of the entire world along with the 8% minority Hindus living in the country. After the violence that started on August 5, the number of Hindu devotees visiting the Dhakeshwari temple has decreased. Some people are coming to the Tarakeshwari temple for rituals and religious traditions like marriage. The newlyweds who came to the temple for marriage said that the situation is expected to improve soon. Expressions of worry were also seen on the faces of the devotees.

Tapan Chakraborty, the head priest of the temple, said that he is praying to Dhakeshwari Mata for peace in the country and safety of all Hindus. Local Muslims were seen in the courtyard of the Dhakeshwari temple to protect it, while people from the Hindu community are also guarding the temple premises. Hindus said that people from the nearby Muslim community are coming to protect the temple after August 5, but we do not want such a situation because we are also citizens of this place.

Hindus engaged in the security of Dhakeshwari temple told Aaj Tak that we need security and we want the situation to be normal because it is not the job of any other community to provide security but that of the government. On Sunday, evening aarti was performed at Dhakeshwari temple as usual and local Hindus participated in the aarti.

The anger in Bangladesh may have subsided, but the marks of violence and arson are still fresh. Party supporter Karim Ul Haque told Aaj Tak that on that day the hooligans not only vandalised the office but also looted goods worth lakhs of rupees. From the room of party chief Sheikh Hasina to the party’s meeting hall and all parts of the building have either been burnt or vandalised.

In the midst of this situation, the police is missing from the streets of Bangladesh. The police headquarters in the middle of the city is also deserted, which is now being guarded by the Bangladesh Army. During the demonstration, stones were pelted on the police personnel and the police headquarters was also targeted, the marks of which are still fresh. Some policemen came to protest outside the dilapidated and deserted headquarters on Sunday, who want to go back to their jobs.

One of these police personnel, Karim, told Aaj Tak that the order to take strict action against the protest was given by Sheikh Hasina’s government and the senior officials in the police department. Karim said that the police personnel had followed the orders of their officers and due to this order, today the people of the country are searching for the policemen, due to which many police personnel are either underground or hiding. Let us also tell you that police stations were burnt in many areas across Bangladesh.
