Ballia: Two policemen and 16 brokers arrested, entire police post including inspector suspended, ADG takes action against illegal recovery from trucks

ADG and DIG jointly raided the Bharouli check post in Ballia, UP. During this, two policemen were arrested for illegally collecting money from trucks. Along with this, 16 brokers involved in the collection have also been arrested. The entire Korantadih check post has been suspended in the case. It was told that this action was taken on the basis of several complaints being received continuously including liquor, animal smuggling, red sand smuggling.

ADG of Varanasi Zone Piyush Mordia said that the Narhi police station in-charge has also been suspended. An FIR has also been registered, which includes the names of many policemen including brokers. Rs 37,500 and 14 bikes have been recovered from the spot. Facts have come to light that these people used to extort Rs 500 per vehicle and about a thousand vehicles pass in a night. Sand, gravel, coal etc. were transported in trucks. Most of the trucks came from Bihar side.

On the other hand, Deputy Inspector General of Police Azamgarh Range says that for a long time we were getting information that illegal extortion is being done from truck drivers. In such a situation, last night after recce by ADG Zone Varanasi and me, a raid was conducted in plain clothes at Bharouli Tiraha on the border of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in Narhi area. On which it was found that policemen are also involved in this extortion case.

Two policemen were arrested from the spot, three policemen ran away. 16 police agents were caught. In this case, all the personnel posted at Korantadih police post have been suspended. Along with this, the SHO Narhi has also been suspended.
