Atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, will Mohammad Yunus’ visit to the temple restore trust among minorities?

A major political development is going on in Bangladesh. After Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister, an interim government has been formed, which is headed by Mohammad Yunus. Meanwhile, the condition of minorities and especially the Hindu community is the worst in the neighboring country. Due to this, Hindus have come out on the streets and are protesting for their safety.

In this episode, Hindus living in Bangladesh demonstrated in the capital Dhaka. Here, Hindus persecuted by Muslim fundamentalists reached outside the official residence of interim government head Mohammad Yunus with photos of their loved ones in their hands and demanded security. This demonstration of Hindus is against the old disease of Bangladesh, in which Muslim fundamentalists persecute Hindus first as soon as anarchy spreads.

On Sunday, a massive protest was held against the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh. This is the first time that the world has seen Hindus of Bangladesh protesting on such a large scale. The way Hindus were openly targeted in Bangladesh after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina’s government has broken the patience of the Hindus living there. He started asking that
Doesn’t Bangladesh belong to them?

Yunus reached Hindu temple

Hindus also demonstrated in Dhaka on Tuesday under the banner of Sanatan Adhikar Manch. While this demonstration was going on, Mohammad Yunus was meeting members of the interim government inside his official residence. Before this demonstration, Chief Assistant of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Mohammad Yunus reached Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital Dhaka. After reaching the temple, Yunus met the Hindus and assured them of security. The attack on Hindus on 5 August drew the attention of the whole world towards Bangladesh. Questions started arising. And after increasing pressure, the interim government had to assure the safety of Hindus.

Hindus were attacked in 45 out of 64 districts

According to Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, which works for minorities, Hindus were attacked in 45 out of 64 districts of Bangladesh, i.e. Hindus became victims of violence and vandalism in 70% of the districts of Bangladesh. Religious places, homes and businesses, everything was targeted. Hindus of Bangladesh have now taken the responsibility of their own security. Mohammad Yunus may have reached Dhakeshwari temple to meet Hindus, but in the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, people of the Hindu community took out a candle march and demanded to save the minorities.

A 5-member delegation of Hindu students named “Minority Rights Movement” met Dr. Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government. Yunus was handed over 8-point demands for discussion. Prime Minister Modi had prominently raised the issue of protection of minorities after the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh. Similar concerns were raised from all over the world including America.

After all round pressure, the Bangladesh government has woken up and is now talking about providing security to Hindus and other minorities. But the question is why such action was not taken earlier? Why did the Hindus persecuted by Muslim fundamentalists have to come to the door of the interim government head’s house with such photos to plead for their safety?

Meeting of RSS and BJP leaders on the condition of Hindus

On the other hand, a long meeting of top leaders of BJP and RSS was held late on Sunday night. This meeting was held at the residence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Apart from Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda were present in the meeting. On behalf of RSS, General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and Joint General Secretary Arun Kumar were present. No official information was given about the meeting that lasted for about 5 hours. It is believed that the issue of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh was raised prominently. According to sources, the concerns of the Sangh Parivar on the situation in Bangladesh were shared with the government. What steps the government has taken for the safety of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh were also discussed.

Let us tell you that the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh on 5 August attracted the attention of the whole world. Protests took place from Britain to Canada. So many Hindus live in Bangladesh

There are 1 crore 31 lakh Hindus in Bangladesh. The maximum number of 24 lakhs live in Dhaka. After this, there is a Hindu population of 20 lakh in Rangpur, 10 lakh in Rajshahi, 4 lakh in Mymensingh, 13 lakh in Sylhet, 7 lakh in Barisal, 20 lakh in Chittagong and Khulna. On August 5, attacks took place on Hindus in Bangladesh in all these cities. Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir played an important role in instigating these protests. The fear among the Hindus of Bangladesh was so much that leaving everything behind, Bangladeshi Hindus gathered on the border of India in large numbers. Sheikh Hasina’s party also said that if her party does not come to power, then nothing can be said about the future of Hindus in Bangladesh.

The population of Hindus decreased over time

In 1951, when Bangladesh was East Pakistan, there were 76% Muslims and 22% Hindus. From 1951 to 1974, the Hindu population decreased by 10% and the Muslim population increased by 10 percent. In 1971, the Liberation War for the independence of Bangladesh broke out and during this time the limits of cruelty against Hindus were crossed and a large number of Hindu refugees came to India. According to the census conducted in the year 2022, 91% of Bangladesh is Muslim and 7.9% is Hindu. The population of other minorities like Buddhists and Christians remained the same in the last 75 years, in this way only Hindus decreased and Muslims increased in Bangladesh.

Radicals are responsible for such situation in Bangladesh

Experts hold the policies of the governments and the fundamentalists responsible for this. Bangladeshi fundamentalist organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami keep attacking Hindus. That is why Sheikh Hasina banned it. On August 1, the Sheikh Hasina government imposed a complete ban on Jamaat and on August 5, Sheikh Hasina had to resign. Along with the Hindus living there, those who punished the fundamentalists also came under target. On August 5, fundamentalists entered the house of a person named Tuhin Afroz and injured him very badly. His hair was also cut. He was treated like this because he played an important role in getting the fundamentalists punished. The main opposition party of Bangladesh is also of fundamentalist thinking. That is why the minority community in Bangladesh, especially Hindus, are on the streets in such large numbers for their safety.

Inflation at 13-year high
