Assassination Attempt Targets Former President Trump at Pennsylvania Rally

In a shocking incident, former President Donald Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt during a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 14, 2024. The suspected shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire from an elevated position outside the rally before being killed by Secret Service agents.

One eyewitness, Ryan Knight, a Trump supporter, reported seeing the alleged shooter on a nearby building before the attack. TMZ published a video showing a man believed to be the gunman lying prone on a rooftop with a rifle, wearing khaki clothes.

According to multiple reports, the shooting unfolded as Trump was speaking against illegal immigration at around 6:08 pm[3]. Gunshots rang out, causing Trump to grab his right ear as four shots were fired in quick succession. The crowd panicked, with many people running for the exits as more shots were heard.

A woman’s scream was heard seventeen seconds after the first shot, following a final shot. Tragically, a bystander was fatally shot in the head, while another woman was critically injured in the forearm or hand. An emergency doctor at the scene described helping a man with a severe headshot wound.

President Joe Biden condemned the violence, stating, “There’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick.”He later spoke with Trump and announced he would cut short his beach weekend to return to Washington.

The FBI has launched a rigorous investigation into how the gunman was able to carry out the attack. As the nation grapples with this shocking incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the need for heightened security measures to protect political leaders and the public at large.
