Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said on Sunday that his government will soon bring a new law to punish love jihad cases with life imprisonment. At the state BJP executive meeting in Guwahati, he said, “We talked about love jihad during the elections. We will soon bring a law that will punish such cases with life imprisonment.”
Let us tell you, recently the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh also introduced a bill related to love jihad in the assembly. In the bill, along with life imprisonment in cases of love jihad, it was proposed to bring the funding for it under the purview of law. A hefty fine along with strict punishment has been proposed for funding for love jihad.

New policy will be brought for employment
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also said that a new domicile policy will soon be introduced under which only people born in Assam will be eligible for state government jobs. He said that indigenous people have got priority in the one lakh ‘government jobs’ provided as per the pre-poll promise, which will be clear when the full list is published. The Chief Minister said that the Assam government has also taken a decision regarding the sale of land between Hindus and Muslims. Sharma said that the state government cannot stop such transactions, but it has been made mandatory to take the consent of the Chief Minister before going ahead.
