According to the tender document issued by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the next two men’s Asia Cups (India T20, Bangladesh ODI) will have 13 matches each. Also, only 6 teams each will participate in these seasons. Out of these, 5 teams will be India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The sixth team will be decided from the qualifying round.
The Women’s T20 Asia Cup was played recently, in which Sri Lanka defeated the Indian team and won the title for the first time. According to the tender document, the next Women’s Asia Cup will be played in 2026, although information about where this tournament will be held and who will host it is not known at the moment. There will be a total of 15 matches in it.
Indian team dominated in Asia Cup
The Indian team has always dominated the men’s Asia Cup. It has won this title 8 times. India won the Asia Cup title in 1984, 1988, 1990/91, 1995, 2010, 2016 and 2018 and 2023.
After this comes Sri Lanka, which has won the trophy 6 times. Sri Lanka has won the Asia Cup title in 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014 and 2022. Pakistan’s team has won the title only twice (2000 and 2012).
