Sunil Pandey, a famous Bahubali leader of Bihar and former MLA, joined BJP today. Sunil Pandey has joined BJP along with his son Vishal Prashant. Before joining BJP, Sunil Pandey was in Pashupati Kumar Paras’ Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party. After his joining BJP, now only Suraj Bhan Singh is left among the big names with Pashupati Paras.
Preparations to include Sunil Pandey, a four-time MLA, in the BJP for the upcoming assembly by-election had begun much earlier. Finally, on Sunday, the party’s state president Dilip Jaiswal got Sunil Pandey and his son Vishal Prashant enrolled in the BJP at the state office. It is believed that the BJP will field Sunil Pandey’s son Vishal Prashant as its candidate in the by-election to be held on the Tarari assembly seat.
Will BJP give ticket to the son?
This seat has been occupied by the CPI (ML) and the BJP wants to win it at any cost and Sunil Pandey has been an MLA from this seat. BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal welcomed Sunil Pandey and his son Vishal Prashant into the party and also hinted at the Tarari assembly by-election.
Former MLA Sunil Pandey raised the slogan of Jai Shri Ram as soon as he joined BJP. Sunil Pandey said that he has been working as an NDA worker for a long time but now he has joined his party BJP and his aim is to form the government by making the party win in the upcoming assembly elections.

The program for Sunil Pandey’s membership in the BJP state office was scheduled at 8 am in the morning, but before he joined the BJP, hand bills with Sunil Pandey’s criminal history were pasted outside the state office. It is believed that there is a section in the BJP itself that is opposing Sunil Pandey’s joining. Sunil Pandey’s criminal history was written in the hand bills pasted on the poster banners outside the state office, as soon as the party leaders noticed this, these hand bills were immediately removed.
Sunil Pandey has the image of a strong leader
Sunil Pandey has the image of a strongman and at the age of 34, he became an MLA by winning the assembly elections for the first time in the year 2000. In the year 2000, he won the election from Piro for the first time on the ticket of Samata Party. After that, he also won the same seat in the by-elections held in February 2005 and October 2005. In the year 2010, Sunil Pandey won the election from Tarari on the ticket of JDU. In 2015, JDU distanced itself from him in view of the criminal cases against him, then Nitish Kumar was with the Mahagathbandhan.
In 2015, Sunil Pandey’s wife Geeta Pandey contested from Tarari on LJP ticket but she had to face defeat. In the 2020 assembly elections, Sunil Pandey contested as an independent and came second. BJP’s Kaushal Vidyarthi came third in this election and Sudama Prasad won. Now Sudama Prasad has gone to Parliament after winning the Ara Lok Sabha seat and assembly by-election is to be held on Tarari seat.

Good days for the strongmen
It is worth noting that these days the strongmen are having a good time in Bihar. Recently, former MLA Anant Singh was acquitted by the High Court and now Sunil Pandey has joined the BJP. The strategy with which the NDA and especially the BJP are moving ahead in Bihar is telling that the board of the 2025 assembly elections will once again be adorned with strongmen.
At present, everyone is waiting for the announcement of Tarari assembly by-election and the nomination of Sunil Pandey’s son Vishal Prashant as the candidate. However, for Sunil Pandey, this contest will be like a double battle. On one hand, he will have to face his opponents in the election, while on the other hand, the possibility of sabotage by the section of BJP which is opposing his entry will also be a challenge.
