Arvind Kejriwal news: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal did not get relief from the Delhi High Court on Wednesday. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the High Court reserved its decision. Opposing Kejriwal’s arguments during the hearing, the CBI said that the Delhi CM tampered with the liquor policy and changed it. Kejriwal has challenged his arrest in the excise policy case.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who represented Kejriwal in the court, said that the lower court had approved the CBI’s application for issuing a production warrant, despite which the investigating agency has been questioning him for about three hours since June 25. Citing the arrest of Imran Khan, Singhvi said that ‘Recently, the court released PTI chief Imran Khan but he was arrested in another case. This cannot happen in our country. Arguing in favor of Kejriwal, Singhvi said that Kejriwal’s arrest in this case is unnecessary because the actions of the investigating agency are telling their own story.’

It is possible that the person may not even wake up- Kejriwal

Singhvi said that ‘It is ironic that the name of my party is Aam Aadmi Party but everyone except me is getting bail. My blood sugar level dropped to 50 while sleeping. This is due to anxiety. It is dangerous for the sugar level to drop while sleeping. In such a situation, it is possible that the person may not wake up. I request you to take a decision in this matter from a holistic and common sense perspective. Three court decisions are already in my favour.’

CBI lawyer DP Singh opposed

Opposing Singhvi’s arguments, CBI’s Special Public Prosecutor DP Singh told the court that ‘Why it took us a year to get the approval should not be anyone’s concern. Kejriwal is the Chief Minister. An Investigating Officer (IO) cannot decide on this alone. It took us three months to collect all the evidence and documents in the case. It is not that we were not doing anything. The court has not made any comment till date on whether the investigating agency has violated any rule in this case. CBI has not done anything that is outside its jurisdiction. They are public servants. Under Section 17 of the Anti-Corruption Act, permission is required to conduct an inquiry. Last January, we recorded Magunta Reddy’s statement…after this, we got the approval in April…there is a system in CBI.’

Kejriwal is not ‘aam’ or ‘common’: CBI lawyer

The public prosecutor said, “I will discuss his role in detail. We will see that he is not so ‘common’ and not even ‘aam’.”
