Are wolves taking revenge for the death of their child? Such a pattern was seen many years ago too

Amidst the terror of wolves in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, the discussion on their vengeful nature has intensified. It is believed that there is probably a story behind wolves becoming man-eaters. Something may have happened to their children or them, due to which they became man-eaters and started targeting human children.

The Aaj Tak team reached Nankar village of Sisayya in Mahsi tehsil in Bahraich to investigate. When we talked to the children there, they told us that a wolf cub had died in the first week of March. It had died while playing. The wolf cub was small in size. The children told us that there was a den in the bushes behind a temple in Karhaura. Something had happened there. Aaj Tak took information about the place and proceeded further to reach that temple.

Did wolves turn man-eaters to take revenge?

Sugarcane is cultivated on a large scale in Ramuapur of Bahraich. When Aaj Tak’s team reached Ramuapaaru village and talked to the people, they told that wolves used to make dens and live in these sugarcane fields. Now it is filled with water and there is no trace of wolves. Wolves do not have any problem here during summer and winter, but their house gets destroyed due to waterlogging in the rain. This happens every year. The villagers say that there were cubs of wolves in these dens. A few months ago, when water went into it due to irrigation, the cubs came out and ran here and there. Even after this, wolves came to live here and their cubs were seen. They say that the wolves’ house has been destroyed by the flood in the Ghaghar river. Due to this, the entire family was forced to run away from here.

There was terror of wolves even 20 to 25 years ago

Wildlife experts say that 20 to 25 years ago, more than 30 children were killed in wolf attacks in the Kachhar region of Jaunpur and Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Investigation revealed that some children had entered the wolf’s den and killed two of its children. At that time too, wolves had become man-eaters and eventually the wolf had to be shot dead.
