Another case! Allegation of attack on procession against Sheikh Hasina, total 33 cases registered so far

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 86 others were booked on Wednesday for attacking a procession in Sylhet city in which several people were shot and a large number injured during a massive protest on August 4. The number of cases registered against Sheikh Hasina since her ouster has now risen to 33.

Sheikh Rehana was also made an accused

Zuber Ahmed, acting president of the Sylhet city unit of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, filed the case in the court of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Suman Bhuiya. Hasina’s sister Sheikh Rehana is also an accused in this case.

According to the Daily Star newspaper, the case alleges that the accused attacked a peaceful rally taken out by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its allied organisations in the Bandarbazar area of ​​Sylhet city on August 4, leaving several people injured.

Now there are total 33 cases against Haseena

Those named in the case include Awami League general secretary and former road transport minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former law minister Anisur Rahman and former prime ministerial adviser Salman F Rahman. According to the report, with this case, Hasina is now facing 33 cases against her. This includes 27 cases of murder, four of crimes against humanity and genocide and one of kidnapping.

Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5 after resigning from her post amid massive anti-government student-led protests. Bangladesh now has an interim government headed by 84-year-old Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.

Interim government will run a case in ICT

Bangladesh’s interim government has said it will prosecute those involved in the killings during the recent student movement against the Hasina-led government at the International Crimes Tribunal.

More than 230 people have been killed in incidents of violence that erupted across the country after the fall of the Hasina government in Bangladesh. The death toll has risen to more than 600 since massive protests began in mid-July by students against the controversial quota system in government jobs.
