Another bad news has come from Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, the only home of leopards in the country. In this park located in Sheopur, leopard Pawan (earlier Oban) died on Tuesday. Pawan’s body was found lying in a drain. Doctors of Kuno have expressed the possibility of the leopard’s death due to drowning in the drain.

Kuno management issued a press note and informed, “On Tuesday morning at around 10.30 am, Namibian male cheetah Pawan was found lying motionless on the banks of a drain among the bushes. The drain was full of water due to rain.

After this, the veterinary doctors of Kuno were informed and after close investigation it was found that the front half of the body including the head of the leopard was inside the water and no external injury was seen anywhere on the body. Initially, the death seems to have been caused by drowning in water. Detailed information will be available after the post-mortem report comes.

At present, the death of Pawan, the only leopard left in the open forest, has created panic in the forest department. Now there are 12 adult and 12 cub leopards left in Kuno National Park.
