The troubles of former principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh, are increasing. While after the CBI, now the ED will also investigate against him, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended the membership of Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College. The disciplinary committee of IMA has taken this action.
In a letter to Sandip Ghosh, the IMA said, “The Disciplinary Committee duly constituted by the National President Dr. R.V. Ashokan today took suo motu cognizance of the rape and murder of a postgraduate resident at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata and the subsequent events. The signatories along with the National President also visited the parents of the victim at their home. They expressed their grievances with your handling of the situation and your behaviour with them lacked empathy and sensitivity in handling the matter properly.”
It further said, “IMA Bengal State Branch as well as some associations of doctors have demanded action against you citing the nature of defaming the entire profession. The Disciplinary Committee of IMA Headquarters has unanimously decided to suspend you from the membership of the Indian Medical Association with immediate effect.”
CBI has already inquired
Let us tell you that the noose is tightening around former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh. He has been questioned by the CBI for more than 100 hours in the last 10 days. Last week on Saturday, the CBI registered a case of financial irregularities against him. The CBI took over the investigation from the SIT formed by the West Bengal government on the instructions of the Calcutta High Court. The CBI has already conducted a polygraph test of Ghosh twice.
To investigate the alleged financial irregularities in RG Kar Hospital, the CBI team has already questioned the former principal of the hospital, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, at his home. Apart from this, the CBI’s anti-corruption branch has also raided four other locations. These included the house of Dr. Debashish Som, demonstrator of forensic medicine and toxicology at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Now the ED will also investigate this matter.
Three teams raided the residence
Recently, a CBI team reached the residence of Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, while the second team reached the residence of Dr. Debashish Som, Professor of Forensic Medicine at RG Kar and the third team reached the residence of Sanjay Vashisht, former MSVP of RG Kar Hospital. The anti-corruption branch of the CBI reached the administrative block of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and conducted an investigation.
What is the case of RG Kar Medical College
On 9th August, in the wee hours of RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, a female resident doctor was raped and murdered. After committing this crime, the drunken accused Sanjay Roy slept in the same building, who was later arrested by the police. The CBI is currently investigating this case.
After the incident, Sanjay Roy’s arrest and interrogation have revealed many important things. What Sanjay Roy did after the incident has entangled the police in many questions. According to the information revealed after the interrogation, after the incident, Sanjay Roy went straight to the Fourth Battalion and slept there. When he woke up on the morning of August 10, he drank alcohol again and went back to sleep. When the police got suspicious, they searched all the CCTV footage around the seminar hall of the hospital. In these footage, Sanjay Roy’s activities as well as other people were identified.
