Many allies of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), including CPI(M) and VCK, are opposing the DMK. These parties have expressed displeasure over the DMK’s decision to organize this religious conference and called it against secularism.

CPI(M) protested

CPI(M) party state president K. Balakrishnan said that the government should not organize religious ceremonies as it is against the principle of secularism and the state should stay away from it. He said that this is done by the BJP and RSS. But governments should stay away from such steps.

VCK also expressed displeasure

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) general secretary and MP D. Ravikumar also opposed the state government’s decision and said that organising religious programmes by the government only promotes communalism. One should stay away from this.

The event was held despite opposition

The special thing was that despite the opposition of the allies, DMK organized it. In which devotees from all over the world participated. Udhayanidhi Stalin said during this that some people are raising questions on organizing a religious conference by the government. But this conference has not been organized suddenly.
