Austin said that today I spoke to Israel’s Yoav Galant and expressed confidence in Israel’s right to self-defense in the face of threats from Iran, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Houthis and other Iran-backed terrorist groups.
He said that I discussed with Defense Minister Gallant the importance of security of American security forces as well as efforts to end tension in the Middle East. I also expressed my support for the Gaza ceasefire.

Uproar over Hania’s murder
The case of the murder of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyya in Iran’s capital Tehran remains in discussion. Haniyya was in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian. He was murdered there. Different theories have emerged about how Haniyya was murdered.
