Amid the torrential rains and floods in many places in India, a government report has raised concerns. The Water Commission’s report on flood-affected areas states that in the last 37 years, more than 2 crore hectares of land has been destroyed across the country due to floods. This report states that between 1986 and 2022, 2.05 crore hectares of land has been destroyed in 712 districts of the country.
