America: Rapid firing in Georgia school, 4 people killed, 30 injured

At least 4 people were killed in a firing incident at a high school in Georgia, USA on Wednesday. Apart from those killed in the firing at Apalachi High School in Winder, 30 people were also injured. The school spokesperson said that the incident is under control and the students were discharged in the afternoon.

ABC News quoted an eyewitness student, Sergio Caldera, as saying he was in chemistry class when he heard gunfire. Caldera, 17, told ABC that his teacher opened the door and another teacher ran in and told them to close the door because a man was firing repeatedly. When students and teachers gathered in the room, someone knocked loudly on his classroom door and yelled several times to open it. When the knocking stopped, Caldera heard more gunfire and screams.

Let us tell you that in the last two decades, hundreds of shootings have been seen inside schools and colleges in America. The deadliest of these was at Virginia Tech in 2007, in which more than 30 people were killed. This massacre sparked a fierce debate on American gun laws and the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, which ensures the right to keep and bear arms.

The White House said in a statement that President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting and his administration will continue to coordinate with federal, state, and local authorities as we learn more.
