Aman Sehrawat, Paris Olympics: Aman Sehrawat lost due to technical superiority, will now play for the bronze medal

The biggest Maha Kumbh of sports, Olympic Games, is being held in Paris this time. All eyes are on India’s young wrestler Aman Sehrawat in Paris Olympics. Aman had reached the semi-finals of the men’s 57 kg freestyle category, where he lost 0-10 to Japan’s Rei Higuchi. Now Aman will participate in the bronze medal match. Aman’s bronze medal match will be played on 9 August.

Aman could not stand in front of Higuchi

Aman could not do anything special against the first seeded Japanese wrestler in the semi-final match and the match lasted only 2 minutes and 14 seconds. Rei Higuchi won on the basis of technical superiority. Let us tell you that if a wrestler takes a lead of 10 points, then the match is ended right there. Higuchi has won the silver medal in the Rio Olympics (2016). Now he has a chance to win gold in the Paris Olympics.

Aman entered the semi-finals by defeating Albania’s Zelimkhan Abakarov 12-0 by technical superiority in the quarter-finals. Aman, the Asian Championship gold medalist and the country’s only male wrestler to qualify for the Olympics, easily defeated Abakarov in the quarter-finals. In the first round, he got one point due to Abakarov’s ‘passivity’ and then two points due to ‘take down’.

The same situation prevailed for former world champion Abakarov in the second round after which the 21-year-old Indian wrestler tried to tie the fitle and was successful. In this way he scored eight points and won by technical superiority. Abakarov challenged two points in the end, but it was rejected and Aman got one more point.

Earlier, Aman reached the quarter-finals on the basis of an impressive performance against North Macedonian opponent Vladimir Egorov. During the match, Aman looked very agile and kept his defense intact and won 10-0 on the basis of technical proficiency over the former European champion. In the first round, 29-year-old Egorov looked a bit troubled and had to seek medical treatment for his knee after Aman’s ‘all out’ attack. Aman did not let his opponent make a comeback. Aman scored two more points by ‘takedown’ and took a 10-0 lead while there were still two minutes left for the match to end.
