Maharashtra, Both Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar and Industry Minister Uday Samant had a narrow escape on Wednesday when their helicopter from Nagpur to Gadchiroli went off course due to bad weather and low visibility.

Safe Landing

However, the pilot skillfully brought the helicopter back on track and landed it safely in Gadchiroli. The three had come here to lay the foundation stone of the Rs 10,000 crore Surajgarh Steel Integrated Steel Project in Aheri tehsil of Gadchiroli district.

Referring to the incident during the programme, Ajit Pawar highly praised the skills of the pilot for safely landing the helicopter.

Ajit Pawar narrated the story

He said, “The helicopter took off safely from Nagpur to Gadchiroli. After takeoff, I was quite relaxed and was looking at the clouds. I asked Fadnavis to look at them too. However, during the journey, the helicopter lost its way due to monsoon clouds. Despite this, Fadnavis was absolutely calm and was talking to me. I was getting upset and worried. However, Fadnavis advised me not to worry. He said that he has been involved in six accidents and he has escaped safely every time. He told me that I will also be safe today.”

‘Worried about landing’

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief said that Fadnavis repeatedly asked him to stay calm. He said, “I was worried about a safe landing, but Fadnavis was absolutely calm. Uday Sawant asked me to keep an eye on the landing site. I heaved a sigh of relief when it came into view from the window.”
